Shopping - Silk and Crafts, Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is an excellent place for craft shopping.

The best silk can be bought direct from the factories. Arrange a factory tour from a local travel agent (not from someone at a temple or on the street).

There is a nightly market, 365 days per year from 6.00pm till 12.00 ish on Chang Klan road, the same road as the Royal Lanna, or Royal Princess Hotel.

There is also a Sunday Market at Tha Pae Gate and Ratchadamnoen Road from 4.00pm till 11.00 ish which features more handmade local items.
