Mount Popa - Bagan

Mount Popa is well worth a visit.  You can hire a taxi for between $20 and $25 USD.  Driving from New Bagan will take approximately 75 minutes and as far as I know this route can only be done in the dry season as the road passes through river beds.

It takes 25 minutes to walk barefoot up the steps to the top of Mt Popa, as with every temple in Myanmar you have to take your shoes off.  Watch out for the monkey poop on the steps. 

Whatever you do, don’t buy food for the monkeys for your own safety They are vicious wild animals that will attack if you try to feed them. 

There are some nice views from the top but it was hazy when I was there.
