Mahamuni Paya, Mandalay

Mahamuni Paya in Mandalay contains the highly revered Mahamuni Buddha image, this Paya is busy all day. Ladies are forbidden to walk up to the buddha.

There are also some Khmer bronze statues that were stolen from Cambodia by the Thais then subsequently stolen from the Thais by the Burmese. People rub the statue’s bodily parts relevant to their own e.g. stomach, legs, head etc to cure them of any affliction.
