Sagaing Hill, Mandalay

Sagaing Hill and Amarapura south of Mandalay can easily be visited in one day. I left for Sagaing at 8.30am by Blue Taxi. There was nobody to collect the $3 fee as the booth was closed. To get to Sagaing (sa-gye) you drive over the Ava Bridge engineered by the British in 1934 (don't photograph this bridge, there are people watching you). They are still building the new bridge across from this one.

To reach Sagaing Hill your taxi driver will get you onto the Bus going up the hill. In the back or on the roof costs 200 kyats and the front seat 400 kyats. Same on the way down.
