You can do the Mandalay City Tour by Trishaw which will take most of the day. I don't really know the price of Trishaws, as a couldn't get them lower than $10 for the tour, which I thought was still a bit high.

I used a blue taxi (6000 kyats) for an afternoon trip to see the Shwenandan Kyaung, Kuthadaw Paya and Mandalay Hill for Sunset ($10 for Mandalay Archeological Zone).

There are taxis at the bottom of Mandalay Hill (too steep for a Blue Taxi) that will take you up to the top for 8000 Kyats, which is fine if there are 10 of you, but rather expensive for one person. I decided to make the half an hour barefoot pilgrimage up the steps to the top under my own steam.

Take a torch with you after sunset for your trip down as there are no lights. You may encounter quite a few friendly students who seem to go up there every day to practice their English.
