If you choose the 5am start to visit Angkor Wat for the sunrise you will be greeted by a couple of thousand others who got up earlier than you to get a better position by the lake to see the sunrise. I call it 'Angkor Madness', at 8am they all disappear back to their hotels for breakfast then descend on Angkor Wat afterwards.

The estimated annual visitor total is currently 1 million and expected to rise to 3 million by 2010. Its crazy just now, I think 3 times as many people will be unbearable. Hotels are popping up everywhere!
